An All-Around Decent and Satisfying Smoke (Peterson Balkan Delight)

Did you ever open up to tin of tobacco expecting something special, only to find that this tobacco is not very exciting?  That’s what happened to me with my order of Peterson Balkan Delight.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I didn’t say that this was a bad tobacco, just not exciting.  Let me explain;

I’ll start with the tin note as usual.  Opening up the tin, the sweet scent of the Virginia tobaccos, coupled with the peppery Perique, and the earthy Latakia made for a worthy tin note.  It didn’t make me go, Wow, but I enjoyed the smell.

The tobacco was not too moist and I found it packed better with a tamper than a finger in a fairly decent manner, though this too was not special (not that I’ve ever seen a special tobacco in this field).

It lit easily, and readily with hardly any expansion due to moisture loss.

The room note, though quite mild, is quite praiseworthy in its simplicity.  Though uncased, the tobacco has a commendable room note that isn’t overpowering to even non-smokers.

This is where the tobacco becomes really good.  It smokes great, and the Latakia creates great billowing clouds of smoke.  Furthermore, it tastes great, though the flavor is not very moving, and I found it very satisfying as a smoke.

The biggest thing that I can say about this tobacco is that I never inhaled it.  I never even thought about it.  The tobacco was completely satisfying without inhaling and I found when I did inhale it later, that it gave me quite the powerful buzz.

I finished bowl after bowl of this good tobacco, and I would never gave me a jolt with how special it was, it was decent and satisfying and perhaps a little understated.

So now you wondering if I would recommend this tobacco?  And the answer to that is yes.  It is not an exciting blend, and is not to make you skip and jump, but it will not disappoint you either. sells it in their Peterson tinned selection, HERE.

Sorry for this short review but, I think this tobacco who speaks for itself in being a worthy blend to add to your rotation.

Smoke ‘em if you got ‘em!

  3. This is one of my two favourites, the other being the 1792 Flake from Samuel Gawith. I like old-fashioned tobaccos because they don’t have the bitter aftertaste of chemicals.
